primary and secondary succession

At school this week we studied primary and secondary succession…

Primary succession is the first time the forest is grown. The first step of primary succession  a slowly retreating glacier exposes bare rock where nothing live, thats how primary succession begins. The next thing to happen would be  lichens. Acids from the lichens begins breaking the rocks into small particles. These particles mix with the dead lichen to start to create the soil. Then some mosses begin to grow, some bugs move in to the mosses when they die it adds to the soil. Over time ferns move in and replaces the mosses some flours grow in to. After a hundred years or so the soil may be able to support a forest.

Secondary succession occurs when there is a disturbance in the environment. The disturbance causes the environment to start over.  Some examples are logging,  farming, and fire.

I really like your blog, Lucy! You can really understand primary and secondary succession when you read this. It’s AMAZING! I really like how you did the first part… That is cool.
    GREAT JOB!
